The first step is to contact the Department of Work and Pensions on the PIP helpline number 0843 455 2357&nbsp;and request the proper form (DS1500). This form needs to be completed correctly. The PIP payment is composed of two parts. The daily living component, and the mobility component. Each has an upper and lower tier pay rate. You may qualify for one or the other depending on the results of your medical assessment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This process will determine to what extent your ill health or disability hamper you in your day-to-day life. Since the payment is intended to help defray the cost of assistance and equipment that most people would not need, your level of impairment must be substantial; for example, you might have difficulty carrying out proper grooming routines or interacting appropriately with other people, or use a cane or wheelchair. Mild impairments receive the standard payouts, while severe ones qualify for the enhanced tier of support.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-what-else-do-i-need-to-know\">What Else Do I Need To Know<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The exception to this is if you have a terminal illness which is expected to end your life in 6 months or less. Regardless of whether or not this illness is physically crippling to you at the time of your application, it is considered to be debilitating and will automatically qualify you for the maximum daily living component of the payment.
